Health Occupations

Drawin gof a heart

The Health Occupations Program is designed to expose students to a variety of careers available to them in the exciting and challenging health care field. Students are encouraged to explore the many pathways leading to a health care career. Students participate in clinical externships three or four days a week. These externships give students an opportunity to put into practice the skills they learn in the classroom and laboratory. Examples of representative clinical externship sites include hospitals, clinics, physicians' offices, skilled nursing facilities, adult day health and rehabilitation centers, elementary schools, and childcare centers. All students in the Health Careers Program are eligible for certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and to become certified as Nurse's Aides/Home Health Aides. Students also receive training in growth and development and general medical procedures.
