Marine Technology

The Marine Technology program is designed to provide students with technical knowledge and experience in the rapidly expanding marine industry.  Technical concepts in the curriculum include:
  • Marine Safety Practices
  • Theory and Operation of Marine Gas and Diesel Engines
  • Two and Four-Stroke Cycle Engines
  • Diagnosis, Repair and Overhaul of Marine Propulsion Systems
  • Marine Refrigeration and Air Conditioning
  • Electronic Ignition Systems
  • Coast Guard and American Boat Yacht Council Regulations
  • Power Tools, Gas and Arc Welding Equipment
  • Use of Precision Measuring Instruments
  • Installation and Repair of On-Board Support Systems, Electrical, Hydraulic, Water, Steering, and Electronics
  • Techniques of Fiberglass and Wood Hull Repair
  • Customer Relations

A large, well equipped shop features the latest tools, shop demonstrators, updated ventilation and state-of-the-art prep station for fiberglass repair.  There is also a heavy duty hydraulic trailer, a Kubota tow vehicle, lifting and support equipment, and a separate three-bay garage for boats awaiting repair.
