U.C.T. School Committee
members receive awards

    Upper Cape Tech School Committee member   Kenneth Pereira, of Pocasset, received a Life Time Achievement Award at the Mass. Association of School Committees Annual Conference. Mr. Pereira had dedicated nearly 20 years of his life to improving public education.  He has served as School Committee Chair, Vice-Chair, and Treasurer. He has chaired numerous sub-committees including Negotiations, Policy and Superintendent Search Committee.  Mr. Pereira is the president of the Mass. Assoc. of School Committees.
    Upper Cape Tech School Committee member Kim Carman, of Wareham, received a Life Membership Award at the Massachusetts Association of School Committees Annual Conference.  Mr. Carman has been a champion of technical education for more than 20 years.  He is active in the DECA (Distribution Education Clubs of America) program and the Boy Scouts of America organization. Mr. Carman has served as Chair, Vice-Chair, Treasurer, and chaired a     number of sub-committees including Budget and   Superintendent Evaluation.
    Upper Cape Tech School Committee member  Rose Merritt, of Buzzards Bay, has been selected as  a member of the 2004 Massachusetts Association of School Committees (MASC) All-State School    Committee. Ms. Merritt worked in the education field for over 40 years and served as Title I Director for Bourne Public Schools before her retirement in 1998.  She has been an active school committee member at Upper Cape Tech for over 20 years and has served as Chair, Vice-Chair, Policy Sub-Committee Chair, and Superintendent Evaluation Sub-Committee Chair. 

Faculty/Staff Achievements

School Nurse Lisa Schmitt received her B.S.N.     from UMass Dartmouth and was inducted into the               International Honor Society for Nursing (Sigma  Theta Tau).

Guidance Counselor Beth Griffin received a          Certification of Advanced Graduate Study in         Education Leadership.

The following U.C.T.  teachers are pursuing Master's Degrees in their disciplines: Roger Forget, Henry McClintock, Donna Moore, Karen Martin-Myers, Tracy Travers, and Susan White.
