Environmental Technology

This progressive,
nationally recognized program has a 9th and 10th grade focus
on life sciences that enables students to learn how protection
of the natural environment is inextricably linked to the protection
of public health. Environmental Technology uses science, engineering,
conservation, communication and economics to protect and enhance
public health and the environment. 11th and 12th grade
students have the opportunity to transfer up to nine college
credits to the Environmental Technology program at Cape Cod
Community College. Renewable energy, aquaculture, energy efficiency
and health and safety are emphasized in a project-based curriculum.
Students are prepared to take the Massachusetts Water/Wastewater
Operator Certification Tests. Students also receive certification
in the Occupational Safety and Health Administration Hazardous
Waste Operations and Emergency Response 40-hour training including
CPR and First Aid certification. |

- Analysis of air, water, and soil pollutants
according to EPA standards
- Basic surveying
- Hazardous waste sampling, labeling, and
handling
- Solid waste handling and disposal
- Operate and maintain U-V spectrophotometer
- Prepare graphics (tables, diagrams, charts,
graphs, drawings, maps and photographs) for the purpose
of communicating information.
- Use and maintain flow measuring devices
- Aquaculture
- Hydroponics
- Use of GPS Equipment/Applications
- Knowledge of state and federal environmental
regulations
