Grade 9:

College Prep Environmental Science
Purpose: To provide students a science background needed to analyze issues concerning the environment and to understand the complex interactions between the various elements of the environment.

Tech Prep Environmental Science
Purpose: Content is comparable to the CP Classes but targets students going to a two-year college or planning to work in an occupational area.

Grade 10:

College Prep Life Science

Purpose:  To provide students with an introductory science course that prepares students in the scientific method and provides them with skills necessary for success in future science classes.  The class is taught in consonance with the science curriculum frameworks and will prepare students for the science portion of MCAS.  This course targets students planning to attend a four-year college.  Students will develop requisite academic skills to do well in college level science courses.

Tech Prep Life Science

Purpose:   To provide students with content comparable to the CP course.  This course targets students who plan to attend a two-year college or enter directly into an occupational area.

Grade 11:

College Prep Chemistry with Lab

Purpose:  To provide students with an introductory course in chemistry and develop skills in applying the scientific process.  This course targets students planning to attend a four-year college.  Students will develop requisite academic skills to do well in college level science courses.

Tech Prep Chemistry

Purpose:  To provide students with content comparable to the CP course.  This course targets students who plan to attend a two-year college or enter directly into an occupational area.

Grade 12:

College Prep Biology with Lab

Purpose:  To provide students with an introductory course on biology and to develop skills in applying the scientific process.  This course targets students planning to attend a four-year college.  Students will develop requisite academic skills to do well in college level science courses.  This course is intended for students in health careers, environment technologies, cosmetology, and the culinary occupational areas.

College Prep Physics with Lab

Purpose:  To provide students with an introductory course on physics and to develop skills in applying the scientific process.  This course targets students planning to attend a four-year college.  Students will develop requisite academic skills to do well in college level science courses.  This course is intended for students in construction technologies, mechanical technologies, electronics, and the information technology occupational areas.

Tech Prep Biology

Purpose:  To provide students with content comparable to the CP course.  This course targets students who plan to attend a two-year college or enter directly into an occupational area.
