    We’re looking for happy, hardworking, physically fit and responsible individuals to join our Truck Teams. Here’s what you can expect as a Truck Team Member:
     
    Your shift starts off at our office. You’ll be matched with your truck team crew & driver for the day and be out in one of our clean, shiny trucks visiting local residences and businesses to take away their unwanted items.
    While out in the field, you’ll be meeting lots of people and providing friendly and courteous service.
    You’ll be following the safety training and wear all required gear (uniform, safety gloves & boots).
    You’ll remove, load and sort items so we can dispose, recycle or donate (we’re committed to reducing waste).
    You’ll ensure the job order is completed as required and offer opportunities for additional disposal services.
    You’ll work efficiently with the team to stay on schedule.
    You and your truck team crew will dispose of all items appropriately to empty the truck at the end of the shift so it’s ready to go the following day.

    SALARY:          GRADE L6 Kingston Town Employee Union – Labor $23.90 to $31.87 per hour (10 steps)

                            $400 stipend for each required certification

    Hours:                         40 per week, 8 hours per day, Monday-Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

     

    Definition:

    Skilled manual work in the maintenance and repair of the Town’s motorized and mechanical equipment, cars, and trucks including emergency vehicles; all other related work as required.

     

    Supervision and Administrative Functions

    Works independently under the general supervision of the Streets, Trees, and Parks Superintendent, and his or her designee, and the administrative direction of the Town Administrator.

     

    Exercises a considerable degree of independent judgment in repair methods and processes, and the replacement of components.

     

    Maintains computerized and written records relating to the care and maintenance of vehicles and equipment

     

    May direct, assist, and instruct others on procedures to be followed in preventive maintenance work and repairs and the operation of complex equipment.

     

    Work involves frequent contacts with others beyond immediate associates to obtain or to furnish information of a technical nature; requires tact and advanced preparation of factual data to assure inter-departmental cooperation on work assignments.

     

    Assists the Streets, Trees, and Parks Superintendent and his or her designee, in the preparation of specifications for vehicle and equipment acquisitions.

     

    Assists Streets, Trees and Parks Superintendent, his or her designee, and others in the preparation of budgets, as they relate to equipment and vehicle repairs and maintenance, and assists other Town Departments as requested, with advice and guidance on vehicle and equipment acquisitions, and maintenance needs.

     

    Job Environment:

    Work is generally performed under typical repair shop conditions with frequent exposure to gasoline, oil, dust, dirt and fumes; often exposed to hazardous materials; work environment is generally very noisy.  Field work may also be required relative to breakdowns, or maintenance and repair of non-mobile equipment.

     

    Operates various repair equipment, including hand tools and power tools; operates heavy and light motor vehicles when necessary.

     

    Errors could result in damage to costly equipment or in failure of equipment under operating conditions, potentially causing injury to self or other employees.

     

     

     

     

    Essential Functions:

    Plans and performs regular maintenance and repair to small and large equipment, vehicles and heavy equipment including but not limited to, Dump Trucks, Front End Loaders, Snow Removal Equipment, Police vehicles, Fire Apparatus, Ambulances and motorized tools. Maintains shop in good condition, and operates light and heavy trucks and equipment as needed.

     

    Must be able to perform mechanical and electrical repair and the overhaul of mobile or stationary equipment; must be able to both disassemble and reassemble gasoline and diesel motors, rebuild engines, replace clutches and transmissions, tune-up motors, replace and adjust brakes, repair electrical systems, pumps, small motors, lawn mowers and brush cutters; must also be able to perform welding, body work and spray painting; and test equipment to insure proper operation.

     

    Performs, plans and records preventive maintenance operations; greases and oils vehicles; changes tires and batteries; does body work entailing blacksmithing, painting or welding tasks.

     

    Replaces brakes, wheel bearings, universal joints, starters, and injectors in diesel engines; packs hydraulic cylinders, and performs other routine maintenance on vehicles and equipment.

     

    Charges and replaces batteries; checks electrical and heating systems; lubricates equipment; changes oil.

     

    Performs other functions as assigned such as masonry, painting, carpentry, fabricating, and welding; may be assigned to special functions or projects.

     

    Must be available for all snow events and natural disasters or other weather-related issues for the duration of the storm as needed and assigned by the Streets, Trees and Parks Superintendent or his or her designee.

     

    Performs similar or related work as required or as situation dictates.

     

    Minimum Qualifications, Education and Experience:

    High school diploma or equivalency; training in mechanic and automotive repair work; three years experience in maintenance and repair of varied equipment such as is characteristic of municipal operations; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.

     

    Special Requirements:

    Class B Massachusetts Commercial Driver’s License is required with clean operating record.

I am looking for someone who gets technology is easily trained and very reliable. Customer service is my number one criteria. I need someone to smile, friendly knows that the customer experience is in my store is the number one priority. I would start someone off at $15/hr. Once I get the other store rolling I would be able to bump that up to $25/hr and depending on feedback and production I might even be able to go higher than that.
